History of the ISU Figure Skating Awards
The ISU Figure Skating Awards were first announced in 2019 to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements in figure skating.
The inaugural event was originally scheduled to take place during the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2020 in Montreal, Canada, but Tanith White (Olympic silver medalist and two-time World silver medalist) and Charlie White, ((two-time Olympic and World champion), renowned ice dancers, brought their expertise and passion to host the first-ever online event.
Since then, the Awards have grown in popularity, presenting honors across various categories, from Most Valuable Skater to Best Costume!
Hosts The event has featured legends of figure skating and icons from the sports world, including Elma Smit (TV presenter and journalist), Kurt Browning (four-time World champion and skating legend), Tara Lipinski (1998 Olympic champion), Johnny Weir (two-time Olympian, World bronze medalist, and TV commentator).
